- What's your turnaround time?
- Typically 48-72 hours but please always allow 7-10 days for an order of any size. If you absolutely must have your order sooner than a week it could possibly be subject to a 25% rush fee. Often when digital printing we can offer printing with same day and next day pickup or delivery for an extra charge as well. We can no longer print digital tees while you wait (unscheduled walk-ins) but will do everything possible to meet your tight deadlines. Standard sceen printing turnaround is 7-10 days. In over 7 years we have not missed a single deadline. Due to the costs associated with digtial printing, we request full payment up front on all orders of any size, for all customers.
- Can I provide my own t-shirts?
- Yes, many clients drop off or ship us blanks. Please always consider buying extras when providing your own blanks.
For digital print orders, or anything less than 100 pieces, customer supplied blanks should be 100% cotton (at least 90% cotton). We are able to print on tri blends with great results, digitally. Please No burn-outs or anything with more than 30% polyester. - Can I come to your shop to view samples?
- Absolutely, please call or email ahead of time to make sure we're available to meet with you. Feel free to email your artwork ahead of time. We are located at 1855 INDUSTRIAL ST #111 ST Los Angeles, CA 90021. Our phone number is 323-680-4465 or 800-613-3755.
- Do you do large screen printed runs?
- We are currently able to print 15,000+ pieces a week. From May-July 2012, we screen printed over 30,000 pieces here in downtown LA for large corporate clients such as eBay & ESRI.
- What is the washability of these shirts?
- Unlike heat press technology, iron ons, and cheap digital printers, our top of the line DTG (Direct to Garment) machine produces the highest quality available which stands up after years washes. This has been proven over the past 6 years and countless washes. We use only the most expensive plastisol inks when screen printing which will last for years.
- Do I need a vector graphic?
- Vector graphics are somtimes desired when screen printing, though not required. The higher quality the digital art, the higher quality the print result will be. If printing on a neutral color (not light and not dark) like royal blue, forest green, red, etc we must have artwork that does not contain any transparency, glow, or shadows, or stray pixels. In these instances a vector graphic is great as the edges of the artwork will be 100% solid. The exception to this is when we're printing black ink only or using white or light shirt colors, as there is no advantage to super high resolution or vector art.
- Do you print on black shirts?
- Yes, we can print high quality lasting color images on black shirt in small runs and large runs. Because of the nature of printing on darks, it can take up to 5-10 days for orders. Digital prints involving dark shirts or white ink must be created using a pure black RGB background (black or very dark shirts only) or transparent background and can be uploaded as .png file using our online tee shirt designer. If you're printing on a black shirt, then it's ok to provide a flattened graphic on a black background in JPG format at 150-300 dpi.
- What types of shirts can I get?
- We offer a very wide variety of garments which we feel look the best and print the best, such as American Apparel, Tultex, JS Apparel, Hanes & Gildan. You can always provide your own T-Shirts and pay for ink only. Please call 1-800-613-3755 or email info@diyshirts.com for quotes specific to your exact needs.
- What brand shirts do you recommend?
- American Apparel makes the highest quality, longest lasting, most comfortable blank T-Shirt and the cost reflects this. Gildan 2000 Ultra Cotton is probably the most commonly used shirt when trying to achieve the best quality at the lowest price. After drying in a dryer, American Apparel will run almost one size smaller than a standard 100% cotton Hanes style t-shirt. We carry & recommend Gildan, Hanes, Canvas, Anvil and Bella. All cotton t-shirts will shrink somewhat and deteriorate over time due to drying at high heat. We highly recommend very low heat or hang drying for any type of garment. It's best to have at least 50% cotton in the garment for digital printing.
- What type of file do I need to print a shirt?
- We can accept virtually any file type, including lower resolution jpg's for digital printing, however 150-300dpi is optimal. We also can scan any image and then produce great results on a t-shirt. Check the t-shirt gallery page to see the types of designs we've printed. Screen printed shirts will require camera ready color separed artwrok to not incur additional set up fees. Screen print artwork should be vector or 300dpi. When using our online t-shirt designer jpeg, png, or gif is required.
- Do you provide design services?
- Yes, we can provide design services, each job will be quoted separately but averages $35-100 an hour depending on the job. We always prefer that the art is print-ready when submitted and won't require adjustments.
- Do you do screen printing or embroidery?
- We can provide both traditional & modern fashion style screen printing & embroidery at wholesale, please email for details. We can produce oversize screen prints and do complicated jobs. The minimum order for these jobs varies based on details, the minimum can range from 24-144. There is no minimum however for digital printing orders!
- Do you do iron ons or heat transfers?
- DIYshirts will never use iron on or heat transfer methods on any order. If you specifically require heat transer, we are often though able to provide that service as use top of the line heat presses.
